1. Relation to Christ: A sincere desire to keep nothing back for myself. “I am poured out”, 100% set aside for Him.
  2. A sense of call. To know beyond a shadow of doubt that God has called you. When things don’t turn out the way you think they should, it is in those moments that you can call on God, who was the sender, and cast it all on Him.
  3. Research the place you are going to as much as possible. Study the culture and the language.
  4. Don’t think that the whole plan will be revealed to you the moment you arrive.
  5. Bond with the people- Eat together, play games together, do fun things together. Look at them as your people and not as different.
  6. Obedience- The bottom line is obedience. When tough times come, obedience to what the Lord has called you to is critical.  We are not called so much to be successful as we are called to be faithful.
  7. Home Church Partnership- The sending church comes alongside to help.
    1. By finances.
    2. By prayer.
    3. By visiting.
    4. By communication and letters.
    5. By helping to provide things that are needed.
    6. By seeing them as an extension of the body of Christ.
    7. By accountability (Paul was accountable to the church at Antioch and the church at Jerusalem. Timothy was accountable to Paul.) The missionary is not to be a lone ranger. We do it together.
